LASEPA Shuts Down Cubana Chief Priest’s Restaurant Over Noise Pollution.

Written by on September 16, 2024

Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has closed down Cubana Chief Priest’s 24-hour fast-food restaurant, Donald’s Fast Food, located on Adebayo Doherty Street, Lekki 1. The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on his X page on Sunday.

Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, had announced the restaurant’s opening on Instagram on September 2. However, LASEPA’s closure of the establishment came as a result of excessive noise pollution, following repeated warnings and abatement notices issued to the restaurant.

“After several warnings and abatement notices, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency sealed Donald’s Fast Food on Adebayo Doherty Street, Lekki 1, over noise pollution and other environmental infractions.”

Prior to the closure, Cubana Chief Priest had posted on Instagram on August 14 that the restaurant would serve Lagos residents better, and he announced the upcoming opening dates. That same day, singer Davido, accompanied by his logistics manager Israel DMW, visited the restaurant and expressed his admiration for Cubana Chief Priest, saying, “I’m proud of you.”

As of this report, Cubana Chief Priest has not publicly addressed the closure. The shutdown of his restaurant mirrors a similar action taken against the popular nightclub Silk Club on Awolowo Road in Ikoyi in 2023, which was also closed for noise pollution.
