In a bold move to tackle Nigeria’s housing deficit, the Federal Government has unveiled plans to construct 77,400 social housing units under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The project, announced by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, aims to provide accessible and affordable housing across all 774 local government areas in the country.
Key Highlights of the Housing Plan:
3,000 units will be built in each of Lagos, Abuja, and Kano under the new Renewed Hope Cities initiative.
250 units per state will be developed as part of dedicated estate projects.
100 units per local government area will be constructed nationwide.
30% of the homes will be reserved for low-income and no-income Nigerians.
Minister Ata emphasized that this housing plan is a direct directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and aligns with the administration’s broader social welfare goals. He added that the Ministry is seeking strategic partnerships with private investors, NGOs, and international development organizations.
One such interested investor is SV-NED Incorporated, a firm led by Allen Ke Nam, which has pledged to support the initiative with funding and expertise in innovative construction technologies. The Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore, assured potential partners of full government support and urged them to submit formal proposals for collaboration.
This housing initiative is seen as a major step toward reducing homelessness and stimulating job creation across the construction sector in Nigeria.
