The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ikeja Branch Announces Engineering Week long Programme: “21st Century Innovation in Blue Economy: Panacea for Sustainability and National Development”

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ikeja Branch, is excited to announce its weeklong engineering programme scheduled from Sunday, August 17, 2025, to Friday, August 22, 2025. Themed 21st Century Innovation in Blue Economy: Panacea for Sustainability and National Development,” this event will explore how engineering can play a crucial role in fostering sustainable national development through Blue Economy innovation.

The programme aims to bring together engineers, industry leaders, policy makers, and the community to engage in insightful discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative efforts that promote the advancement of engineering in Nigeria.

Programme Details:

  • Sunday, August 17: Thanksgiving Service
    • The week will kick off with a Special Thanksgiving Service at Redeemed Christian Church of God, Chosen Generation Parish, Besides NSE Ikeja Branch Secretariat
  • Monday, August 18: Press Conference/Media Chart
    • This basically focuses on raising awareness about the theme and its significance in today’s rapidly changing world.
    • Tuesday, August 19: Ademola Olorunfemi Colloquium
    • Guest Speaker: Engr Akintunde Atanda, FNSE
    • Theme: Strategic Cadence and Engineering Capacity Development: A pathway to Sustainable Industrial Growth in Nigeria
    • There would be 4 Discussant who shall be making an input to the topic of the Guest Speaker. They are: Kunle Adebajo FNSE; Engr. Olayinka Abdul FNSE; Engr. Bukola Adubi, and Engr. Michael Onafowokan FNSE
    • This colloquium, named in honor of a distinguished engineer, will feature thought-provoking presentations and discussions on engineering capacity that barth sustainable Industrial Growth.
  • Wednesday, August 20: Industrial/Technical Visit and Spouses Forum
    • Engineers Spouses meet to discuss and sharpen their knowledge on critical areas of development.
  • Thursday, August 21: Young Engineers Day, and 2025 AGM
    • A day dedicated to the Young Engineers to Interact and network with one another so as to broaden their knowledge in engineering and related topics that affects human development. The activities is aimed at inspiring the next generation of engineers.
    • The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NSE Ikeja Branch will also take place with Election of new leaders that would pilot the affairs of the branch for another 1 year.
  • Friday, August 22: Dinner & Award Night
    • Keynote Speaker: Dr Jacob Nwachukwu, MB BS, FNIM, Managing Director/CEO. Elyon Synergy Ltd
    • Topic: Wellness and Balance: Sustaining Engineers for Peak Performance
    • The week will culminate in a prestigious Dinner and Award Night, celebrating outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and community.

Engr. Nimot Muili, FNSE, FNIEE, PMP, Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ikeja Branch, emphasized the importance of the theme, stating, “As engineers, we hold the key to shaping a sustainable future. This week is not just about celebrating our profession, but about coming together to co-create solutions that will ensure sustainable growth.”

Engr. Olubowale, R.R, , Planning Committee Chairman, added, “Our theme this year reflects the importance of Innovation in Blue Economy for the sustenance of  national development especially in this 21st Century
