The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has given the Federal Government a 21-day ultimatum, threatening to embark on a nationwide strike if long-standing demands remain unresolved.
ASUP Zone B Coordinator, Innocent Simji, announced this after an emergency NEC meeting held on August 14 in Bauchi.
The issues raised include unpaid salary arrears, non-implementation of promotion and allowances, neglect of state-owned polytechnics, and continued marginalisation of HND holders.
The union also condemned the outsourcing of quality assurance, poor infrastructure funding, and interference in union activities.
If the government fails to meet the demands, academic staff across polytechnics and monotechnics nationwide will withdraw their services.
