FORMER LABOUR MINISTER, SIMON LALONG, ARRIVES SENATE, SET TO BE SWORN IN AS SENATOR
Written by Olakunle Oke on December 20, 2023
Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, just arrived at the National Assembly complex, ready to step into his new role as Senator for Plateau South. He’ll be replacing Napoleon Bali, whose seat he secured after a court victory.
Adding weight to the occasion, Lalong received a distinguished escort: none other than Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This presence underscores the significance of Lalong’s transition from the cabinet to the legislative branch.
Just yesterday, Lalong officially tendered his resignation to President Bola Tinubu, paving the way for his swearing-in today. His arrival at the National Assembly marks a fresh chapter in his political career, one that promises to be filled with the responsibilities and challenges of representing Plateau South as their voice in the Senate.
Stay tuned for updates as Lalong officially takes his seat, marking a new chapter in Nigerian politics and perhaps offering insights into the future direction of the APC under its new leadership.
