The Bank of Industry (BOI) has reiterated its commitment to empowering over 12 million artisans and technicians across Nigeria, recognizing them as vital engines for inclusive economic growth and national industrial transformation.
Speaking at the 2025 Nigerian Artisans Leadership Summit in Abuja, BOI Managing Director Olasupo Olusi, represented by Executive Director Mabel Ndagi, highlighted the bank’s strategic vision under its 2025–2027 Corporate Plan.
This strategy focuses on six priority areas:
Support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
Youth skills development
Expansion of the digital economy
Climate resilience initiatives
Infrastructure investment
Promotion of gender inclusion
Olusi emphasized that the artisan sector faces several critical challenges, including limited access to financing, outdated tools, and inadequate training. He called for urgent action to remove these barriers and unlock the full economic potential of Nigeria’s informal workforce.
The summit, themed “Unlocking the Inherent Potential of Nigerian Artisans and Technicians,” brought together leaders from government, industry, and civil society to design a sustainable and inclusive roadmap for development.
