LAGOS GOVERNMENT WARNS DEVELOPERS ON ILLEGAL BUILDING CONSTRUCTIONS ACROSS THE STATE

Written by on December 18, 2023

The Lagos State government warns that ongoing demolition of illegal structures may not end until developers comply with regulations. In a panel discussion at the Real Estate Market Place Conference, officials declared zero tolerance for non-compliance.

Head of Service, Bode Agoro, and commissioners for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, and Physical Planning, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, emphasized that adhering to established rules is the only way to avoid demolitions.

Special Adviser on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, stressed the importance of professionals following best practices to minimize real estate investment risks. The government, she affirmed, is dedicated to promoting best practices through collaboration with developers and stakeholders to ensure compliance and prioritize safety.

The message is clear: comply or face consequences. Developers must take notice and build responsibly to avoid the wrath of the wrecking ball.
