SUPREME COURT TO DECIDE KANO STATE GOVERNORSHIP DISPUTE ON THURSDAY

The fate of Kano’s governorship hangs in the balance as the Supreme Court gears up to hear the appeal on Thursday, December 21st. Both sides, armed with legal weapons, are ready to make their case before the highest court in the land.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his All Progressives Congress (APC) will face off against challenger Abba Kabir Yusuf and his New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). The battle lines were drawn after the Court of Appeal upheld the victory of Ganduje, prompting Yusuf to file an appeal, seeking to overturn the verdict.
NNPP’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate Gboyega Awomolo, has laid out ten grounds for appeal, each challenging the validity of Ganduje’s win. From alleged electoral irregularities to questions about party membership, the arguments promise a fiery courtroom clash.
Governor Ganduje’s counsel, Bashir Tudun Waziri, remains confident in their defense, stating they have received the hearing notice and are prepared to address the court. With both sides armed and ready, the stage is set for a legal showdown that will determine who wields the power in Kano.
