BVN REGISTRATION REACHES 60.2 MILLION AS JANUARY 31ST DEADLINE NEARS

Just 21 days remain until the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) deadline for all bank customers to obtain a Bank Verification Number (BVN). Encouragingly, data from the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) shows a surge in registrations, bringing the total number of BVN holders to over 60.2 million.
This marks a significant jump of 2.6% since the 58.7 million registrations recorded on September 12, 2023, prior to the CBN’s directive. In December 2023, the apex bank issued a circular mandating all financial institutions, including commercial, merchant, non-interest, payment service banks, other financial institutions, and mobile money operators, to electronically revalidate all BVN and National Identification Number (NIN) linkages for all accounts and wallets by January 31, 2024.
