_Tragic Accident at Charity Road: Bike Accident Claims Passenger’s Life_

On June 27, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a devastating accident occurred on Charity Road, opposite Chapters Hotel, Abule Egba.
A bike rider, carrying a passenger, violated traffic laws, prompting a police officer to give chase. The pursuit ended in tragedy when the bike fell, causing a fatal injury to the passenger.
According to eyewitnesses, the bike rider attempted to escape, but the police officer pursued him, using a tricycle to block the bike’s path and hold him down. The bike fell, and a pointy iron on the bike pierced the passenger’s left lap, causing severe wounds, bruises, and significant blood loss. The passenger was rushed to the hospital, where she was heard saying “e ma je kin ku o” (don’t let me die).
A female police officer arrived shortly after and assisted in transporting the passenger to the hospital. The bike rider fled the scene but later returned to the scene with friends to retrieve his bike. However, he was met with anger from the crowd, who managed to slap and beat him before the police intervened and took him away.
The incident has left the community in shock, highlighting the importance of road safety and responsible driving. The passengers condition remains critical.
