Identity and Purpose: How it all plays out

Who are you?
For some, this question is as simple as ABC and can be answered without batting an eyelid. But to others…well let’s just say they are still working on it. What if I told you that your identity is directly connected to your functionality. Now this is crucial, because the meaning of a thing most times influences how it is perceived and eventually used.
Take for example the picture above; if I walked up to you and told you that the purpose of a cup is to hold pencils, and without thinking much about it you believed me and lived with that understanding all your life. Then the purpose of a cup to you will be simply to hold pencils. However, if in that same scenario, you already had knowledge that the purpose of a cup is to hold liquid for drinking, then you will strongly disagree with the idea that the purpose of a cup is to hold pencils.
Just as cup, we can all experience identity crisis not knowing who we are or what we truly stand for, letting others define us through their somewhat tainted perspective. To fully explore the potentials which we were made for, we first have to answer the all important question: Who am I?
