Skills you can pursue during the summer break

Happy Summer Break!
Yes, it is that time of the year again when everyone is back from school and we struggle to place people’s name with their faces. Just kidding 😂
But now that the summer holidays has started, here are some skills to keep you busy during this space of time.
1. Photography
Photography is a great skill to learn and is highly valuable in today’s world. It is the art of capturing moments, and this art can be used in various fields such as journalism, tourism, advertising, and science.
Learning it now might complement your career later on. So even if you don’t have a camera yet, with just a smartphone you can begin to learn.
2. Makeup and Gele tying
For all my Owanbe [Party] people, this is the skill for you. Makeup and Gele tying is ideal for ladies who might want to try their hands on something new. Not only is it fun to learn😉, it will also come handy for future events.
3. Pastry making
This skill is not only useful for entertaining people, it is delicious too😋. Learning to make pastries like meat pie, spring rolls, chinchin, is a delightful way to spend your holidays. You can even partner to bake pastries with your close friends/family to create lasting memories.
Try not to eat everything before it is ready to serve though.
4. Coding
Coding, or programming, involves writing instructions for computers to execute, enabling us to create software, applications, and websites. And better still, you do not have to necessarily meet some to be your tutor, as there are resources on coding for beginners on YouTube, Udemy and even with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
5. Bag making
Making or crafting a bag requires first thinking about the type of bag you want to create. Is it a leather bag, Ankara bag, or something more unique?
Once you have decided you will need to procure materials and tools to get started. Start will simple designs and work your way towards more intricate crafts.
6. Graphic design
With the help of graphics, deeper meaning can be portrayed. From flyers, to branding, to presentation slides, we employ the use of graphics in one way or the other.
The great thing about graphics is that anyone can do it as long as he or she is willing and equipped with the right gadgets and applications. Such applications include Canva, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW, etc.
With all these skills mentioned, the bottom line is to learn a craft today. Do not be idle at home but find something worth doing and do it well.
