The Lagos State government has urged students and pupils across the state to shun vices such as bullying, drug abuse, and gangsterism as they prepare to resume for the new academic session.
This call was made by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, in a statement issued on Sunday evening.
Mr. Alli-Balogun encouraged students to remain focused, curious, and committed to achieving excellence in their studies and legitimate activities. He emphasized the importance of understanding their purpose for attending school and staying on course to meet their educational goals.
“The state government is dedicated to providing a safe and conducive environment for learning, and we will continue to support students in reaching their academic and personal objectives,” the commissioner stated.
Teachers and school staff have also been urged to deliver optimal services and to uphold their critical role in shaping the future of the students. The government reassured educators that it would continue to ensure their welfare and provide a supportive working environment.
Additionally, the commissioner underscored the importance of collaboration between parents and guardians in the educational development of their children, noting that successful training requires a united effort.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that several new students in Primary One, JSS1, and SS1 in public schools may face delays in joining their peers, as their admissions are still being processed.
