Written by on December 6, 2023

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that the much-anticipated Opebi-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge and its connecting arterial roads will be ready for public use by the second quarter of 2024.

Governor Sanwo-Olu made this announcement during a recent inspection tour of the ongoing project, addressing journalists at the Odo Iya Alaro area. He revealed that the project, initiated over a year ago, has achieved approximately 65% completion.

Expressing optimism for the bridge’s impact on traffic flow, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized its numerous benefits. He stated that the Opebi-Mende-Ojota link will provide:

  • Alternative routes: Motorists travelling between Toyin, Allen, Opebi, and Ojota, as well as those connecting Maryland with Ikeja and its environs, will have additional options.
  • Reduced congestion: Traffic on Kudirat Abiola Way and Mobolaji Bank Anthony is expected to decrease significantly.
  • Improved traffic flow: The bridge will contribute to smoother traffic flow throughout the area, benefiting commuters and businesses alike.

The completion of the Opebi-Mende-Ojota link and connecting roads is a significant development for Lagos State. It is expected to improve transportation efficiency, reduce travel time, and enhance overall economic activity within the region.
