Serie A giants AC Milan are set to ENTER TALKS with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in an attempt to DELAY the release of winger Samuel Chukwueze for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON).
With Nigeria due to BEGIN AfCON preparations in Abu Dhabi on January 1, 2024, Milan are eager to retain Chukwueze for their Coppa Italia clash against Cagliari on January 2. The club believes a short delay would be mutually beneficial, allowing Chukwueze to contribute in a crucial domestic cup tie before joining the national team.
Chukwueze is widely EXPECTED to be named in the Super Eagles’ squad for the tournament, highlighting the potential for a delicate negotiation between club and country. Milan’s desire to hold onto their star player will undoubtedly be met with resistance from the NFF, who prioritize a well-prepared national team for the continental championship.
This development adds another layer of intrigue to Chukwueze’s situation as the AfCON approaches. Whether Milan’s attempt to delay his release proves successful remains to be seen, but it is a situation that will be closely monitored by both club and country fans.
