The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is preparing for the next round of discussions with the Federal Government regarding the establishment of a new minimum wage. The union seeks to establish a living wage that reflects the current cost of living and ensures the well-being of working Nigerians.
This meeting follows the NLC’s unwavering commitment to workers’ rights, particularly in light of the recent assault on workers and their leaders in Imo State. The NLC views this incident as a grave threat to the fundamental principles of freedom of association and collective bargaining, enshrined in both the Nigerian Constitution and international labor conventions.
The NLC’s resolve remains steadfast in its pursuit of a fair and equitable minimum wage that reflects the realities of life in Nigeria. The upcoming negotiations represent a crucial opportunity to address the concerns of Nigerian workers and ensure their economic security and prosperity.
