EFCC INTERROGATES ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION OVER N585M HUMANITARIAN MINISTRY SCANDAL

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has cast its net wide in the ongoing investigation of alleged fraud at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. Today, Accountant General of the Federation Oluwatoyin Madein spent over six hours answering questions at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Sources reported that the interrogation centered around a suspicious N585.2 million government fund transfer from the Ministry to a private bank account belonging to a government official. While details of the alleged recipient and their connection to the Minister, Dr. Betta Edu, remain unclear, Madein’s involvement in authorizing the payment raises a red flag.

Though questioned for an extensive period, the anti-graft agency released Madein in the evening, leaving further developments shrouded in suspense. The EFCC confirmed the interrogation but declined to provide specifics, citing ongoing investigations.
