In a major international development, Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, has revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to a “permanent peace” deal with Ukraine.
This update follows the third round of talks held in Saint Petersburg, where Witkoff described the meeting as “compelling,” noting the presence of senior Russian officials, including Yuri Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev, two of Putin’s key advisers.
Witkoff expressed optimism, stating that a peace agreement is beginning to emerge, although no major breakthrough has been officially confirmed yet.
Despite Trump’s push for a ceasefire, Putin has previously rejected a complete halt in hostilities. However, recent discussions have also explored the possibility of U.S.-Russia business collaborations, which Witkoff believes could contribute to regional stability.
